Yellow Book - Abridged version for maintainers

Yellow Book Steering Group has decided to supplement the Yellow Book with a series of application notes, each providing more detailed, practical guidance on a particular topic. The application notes listed below are available in PDF format.

In Appendix B "COMPETENCE MANAGEMENT RESOURCES" there is a reference to HMRI's guidance on competence management. This document can can now be found on the ORR website at:
http://www.rail-reg.gov.uk/upload/pdf/sf-dev-staff.pdf It is now referred to as Railway Safety Publication 1, though it retains the title "Developing and Maintaining Staff Competence".
The printed version of Yellow Book, Volumes 1 & 2 (combined) is now available free of charge. You can collect up to a maximum of 3 copies from the following distribution points:
