Most of these forums are moderated discussions (newsgroups, mailing lists, etc) covering safety-relevant issues. They can provide a good source of up-to-date information and discussions on current safety engineering issues. Newsgroups are often busiest after something has gone wrong with a system, somewhere.

Forums

	Railway Safety A web site dedicated to Railway Safety, and intended to be "the international meeting place for people working" in that area. Includes, among other things, a discussion forum on railway safety related matters and a calendar for conferences and seminars on railway safety.
	The Risks Digest is a forum on risks to the public in computers and related systems.

Newsgroups

	sci.engr.safety All aspects of the safety of engineered systems.
	misc.industry.safety.personal Discussion on personal protective equipment (PPE) - any device worn or held by the user in order to provide protection whilst performing the given task.
	sci.aeronautics.airliners A moderated discussion group on airliner technology: the design, construction, performance, human factors, operation, and histories of transport-category aircraft.
	comp.software-eng Discussion on safety-critical systems also crops up in this newsgroup from time to time.
	comp.risks This is the newsgroup equivalent of The Risks Forum, a forum on risks to the public in computers and related systems.

Mailing Lists

Safety-Critical Mailing List A forum for discussion of the engineering and assessment of safety-critical systems, with special reference to computing. It covers safety requirements and risks, safety engineering techniques and safety assessment. Its focus is on safety-critical computer systems and computer-supported design and assessment of general system safety.

SAFETY Mailing List Discussions on SAFETY involving environmental and occupational health and safety issues, although a wide range of subjects and participants is encouraged. Issues discussed in the past include chemical safety issues, indoor air quality, interpretation of safety standards and regulations, proper hazardous waste disposal, safety management, and electronic resources on these topics.
